Hello, I’m YR

I’m currently an undergrad specialising in Information Security, and occasionally traumatizing (read: teaching) students as a teaching assistant, in programming and data structures and algorithms.

Serious Interests

• Designing secure software by default: I’m interested in how tools and programming language features can make the secure path the natural one for developers (e.g., Rust)

• Pentesting: Finding faults in software (sometimes people) is fun, and ultimately it helps me build better, more secure software.

Interests

• Accumulating tech disabilities: Using an alternative keyboard layout + tiling window manager is sufficient to render any computer unusable to anyone else other than the owner himself

• Being a Vim advocate: If you’re not using Vim, are you really accomplishing anything?

• Magic: I’ve done this for a good current_age - 5 years. Not to say I’ve been actively practicing (or performing) but I’ve haven’t given up on it yet

Quirks

Known around the office for two things: Obsessive use of Vim and asking “How’s life?”. One opens files, the other opens conversations.
